Work
Two hats. Software engineer at Economize, a B2B FinOps SaaS. Go backend work, AI feature development, and the observability plumbing that keeps it honest. On the other hat, founding engineer at a stealth AI startup. Building from zero, agent systems and LLM infrastructure. More on that when it's public.
Most weeks I learn a new failure mode the hard way.
Going deep on
- Go concurrency. Channels,
select, goroutine leaks, and when a mutex is actually the right call. - Agent architectures. Step budgets, tool-use contracts, deterministic scaffolding around non-deterministic cores.
- RAG that actually works. Eval loops, chunking heuristics, hybrid retrieval, and when to just not use RAG.
- Distributed systems fundamentals. Re-reading Kleppmann, writing until I can explain things without a textbook open.
Writing
New essays are in drafts. Older posts are at /writing, sitting behind an archive link with real dates preserved. Currently drafting a series that reckons honestly with a year spent over-relying on LLMs, and what I'm changing about how I build.
Reading
See recommendations on the writing page for things I keep coming back to.
Away from the keyboard
Reading more long-form again. Trying to sleep before 1 a.m. Avoiding the second doomscroll of the day.
